Research Focus
My research focuses on how melanoma cells survive MAPK pathway inhibition by entering drug-tolerant states driven by coordinated changes in cell identity, redox balance, plasma membrane organization, and chromatin regulation.
I am particularly interested in how therapy-induced cell state plasticity enables transitions between proliferative and dedifferentiated phenotypes through dynamic transcriptional and epigenetic programs, including early chromatin remodeling events linked to factors such as KDM5B.
In parallel, my work focuses on redox control systems, especially the peroxiredoxin (PRDX) network, and their role in supporting the survival of these persister-like states under therapeutic stress.
I also investigate how changes in plasma membrane composition and fluidity influence drug uptake and signaling responses to MAPK inhibition.
Together, these approaches aim to define how melanoma cells adapt to targeted therapy and to uncover new therapeutic vulnerabilities beyond the MAPK pathway.
Current projects:
- Peroxiredoxin–thioredoxin–mediated redox control during melanoma resistance development
- Modelling the molecular determinants of intrinsic drug resistance in melanoma (CRC1752 DYNAMO, Project A01)
- Epigenetic chromatin remodeling by KDM5B during melanoma resistance development
